Iris Medical Group WordPress Development

Iris Medical Group is a physician-owned practice that delivers full-service primary care directly to patients’ homes across Middle Tennessee and Kentucky. With 18+ medical services, two state coverage areas, and a patient portal powered by athenahealth, they needed a website that made it easy for patients to understand what in-home care looks like, find the right service, and request an appointment. We built their platform from scratch on WordPress, creating a warm, accessible experience that reflects the personal care they deliver at every home visit.

The Challange

Iris Medical Group does something most practices don’t: they come to you. Their providers deliver full primary care in patients’ living rooms. But most people have never heard of in-home primary care. The website needed to explain a service model many patients didn’t know existed, build trust quickly, and make it easy for elderly patients and caregivers to request an appointment.

  • Unfamiliar Service Model: Most people don’t search for in-home primary care because they don’t know it exists. The site needed to educate patients on how it works, who qualifies, and why it beats sitting in a waiting room. If visitors don’t understand in the first few seconds, they leave.
  • 18+ Services Need Clear Pages: Blood draws, wound care, mental health, ketamine therapy, X-rays, telemedicine, hospice evaluation. Each needed its own page explaining what it is and how it works at home. A caregiver researching wound care for their parent needs answers fast.
  • Two States, Multiple Counties: Iris serves Middle Tennessee and Bowling Green, Kentucky. Patients need to quickly confirm coverage in their area so they don’t waste time requesting appointments outside service zones.
  • Patient Portal Integration: Iris uses athenahealth where patients log in, access health records, and manage appointments. The website needed seamless integration without confusing patients about where they are.
  • Elderly and Caregiver-Friendly: Many patients are elderly with chronic conditions or limited tech experience. Their caregivers often make initial contact. The site needed to be readable, simple, and accessible on any device including tablets.

Our Solution

We built Iris Medical Group’s website around one question every visitor has: “Can a doctor really come to my home?” The entire site is designed to answer that question with a clear yes, then show exactly how it works, what services are available, and how to get started. Every design choice prioritizes clarity and accessibility for patients who may be navigating healthcare decisions during stressful times.

What Made This Build Different

  • Homepage That Explains a New Concept: Hero communicates “Primary Care in the comfort of your home.” Three value cards below: Convenience (no commute, no waiting rooms), Exceptional Care (60-minute appointments), and Cost Savings (Medicare, Medicaid, VA). Entire service model understood in one scroll.
  • 18 Dedicated Service Pages: Wound care, ketamine therapy, mental health, telemedicine, X-rays, palliative care, chronic care management, and more. Each explains the service and how it works at home. Also helps local SEO so “in-home wound care Nashville” finds Iris directly.
  • Dual Appointment Pathways: Two header CTAs: “Request Appointment” for patients and “Refer a Patient” for professionals. Appointment requests flow through DocResponse, patient portal links to athenahealth. Both visible on every page.
  • athenahealth Portal Integration: Existing patients access records and schedule follow-ups through athenahealth. “Patient Portal” link in main navigation. New patients create accounts with a registration form covering demographics, contacts, and referral sources.
  • Location Pages That Build Trust: Tennessee and Kentucky each have visual sections with regional imagery. Insurance acceptance prominently displayed. “Now accepting patients ages 18+” sets clear expectations.
  • Real Patient Testimonials: Scrolling carousel with names and star ratings. Quotes speak directly to concerns of patients considering in-home care for the first time.
