Karen Bengall WordPress Development

Karen Bengall has spent 30+ years photographing for some of the most prestigious names in luxury: Cartier, Sotheby’s, Condé Nast, Garrard, Jimmy Choo. She needed a website that let her work do the talking. We built her site from scratch on WordPress, creating a clean, gallery-driven platform where images lead and everything else supports them. No distractions. No clutter. Just stunning photography with a clear path to get in touch.

The Challange

Karen’s work speaks for itself. She’s photographed diamond bracelets for Cartier, silverware for Sotheby’s, and editorial content for Condé Nast. But she had no website that reflected that caliber. The site needed to do one thing perfectly: make people feel the quality before they read a single word.

  • Images Need to Lead: A photographer’s site needs to lead with visuals, not text. Without a website built around visual storytelling, Karen’s portfolio was limited to PDFs, emails, and word-of-mouth.
  • Four Services, One Photographer: Product photography, headshots, fine art, and commercial video. Each attracts completely different clients. An e-commerce brand has different expectations than a Sotheby’s dealer needing fine art documentation. The site needed to speak to all four without feeling scattered.
  • Luxury Clients Expect Luxury Presentation: When your client list includes Cartier, Jimmy Choo, and Garrard, your website can’t look average. The design needed to feel premium without competing with the photography. Clean, minimal, refined.
  • No Inquiry Path: Inquiries came through personal referrals and scattered emails. No structured way for new clients to discover services, understand her process, or reach out. Business was being lost at every step.
  • Speed vs. Quality: Photography sites must look stunning at full resolution but load fast. A slow gallery kills the experience, especially on mobile. Dozens of high-res images needed to load without sacrificing speed.

Our Solution

We built Karen’s website with a principle that guided every decision: the photography comes first, everything else supports it. No hero sliders with text overlays competing for attention. No busy layouts. Just beautiful images presented in a way that lets potential clients experience Karen’s eye before they read anything about her.

What Made This Build Different

  • Photography Leads, Everything Follows: Homepage opens with a full-bleed rotating showcase. The butterfly on black, the whisky bottle in perfect light, diamond rings glowing against dark backgrounds. Visitors feel the quality within the first second. Text appears after images have already made their impression.
  • Four Galleries, Four Client Types: Each service has its own curated gallery. Product Photography shows clean e-commerce and styled still life. Headshot/Branding shows relaxed professional portraits. Fine Art shows precision work on silver, jewellery, and antiques. Commercial Video gets its own section. Visitors find their category and see exactly what’s relevant.
  • Testimonials That Close Deals: Real client quotes placed throughout the site, not just on a dedicated page. Specific praise like business results and quality endorsements, positioned where prospects are making decisions.
  • Luxury Client Logos as Social Proof: Condé Nast, Cartier, Garrard, and Jimmy Choo logos sit prominently on the homepage. For a photographer, these names do more selling than any paragraph of copy. Credibility answered instantly.
  • Image Performance Without Compromise: WebP conversion, lazy loading, StackPath CDN, and Priority Hints keep galleries loading fast without downgrading quality. Every image looks gallery-worthy on every device while page speed stays high.
